Here is my progression on adobe photo shop with my masthead. Structured in order the last two creations are the ones i have decided to take foward onto the final.
The reasons for this was the way the colours encounterd the text font this being "28 days later"
and how it readresses the cracks and retro framed letters.

FINAL DRAFT SKETCHED BEFORE CONSTRUCTION OF THE REAL
THERE TO SUPPORT THE LAYOUT AND COLOUR THEMES
SCALED CORRECTLY

All magazines have extras when making sure their magazines are that little bit better than the rivals beside them on the shelf. In this case magzines such a kerrang and NME have endless prizes and exclusive gifts to be won swaying more people to buy the magazine as they can now even look and act like their idols in the issue.

Above is a scene i have created with some summer clothes of my own pamperd togther it can give a powerful image to my target audience and with come attractive text above "Get hooked up now" will definatley make them think they are part of the future shock genre and will draw them in to want the next issue for more exlusives.

Packing the clothes and accesseries tightly togther i played around with various positions and camera angles to compliment the over powering colours of the material. Also to help the prizes stand out i placed a pillow underneath the t-shirt to give a more compact feel to picture giving a sense theirs more goods than what there is actually.

Experimenting with ideas for my magazine here are some graffiti sytled mastheads which i have constructed with permanant marker and florencant gel pens on paper. Having the idea of scanning the images in onto adobe photoshop i relised it would be extremely diifcult at cutting the text out and placing in a black dropped text box. Another factor was that the colours i have used will look faded to the house style future shocj will have the main reason as quality on photoshop are alot more fuller and bold. However i have put them on incase later on with development a more suitable idea arrouses.

DENOTATIONS AND CONNOATATIONS

To take my pictures in such a layed back enviroment can have many deeper meanings than its just simply what is seen.

Looking at this shot i have taken cleary denotes a field some typical council houses and blus skies.

Looking deeper however it can be seen that a summer vibe is kicking in and the lower shadow bottom page can conote that the grassy banking can be a great place to thinks thoughts through and make music possibly just an overall positive sight where you can easily socialise. That is the reason i have used this place to take snaps of my second representation of a music artist.

Furthering with my photography he is a mediam close up which is ideal for the front cover of my magazine. Directing my actor i wanted him to look directly into the camera lense and pull a serious face this makes my work more professional and shows i have controll over my work. I also wanted to show the different personalities of the artist making the front cover more interesnting to look at therefore changing the angles and sceneary when ever possible.

ACTION SHOTS

The next two images are ones i have took when the character is moving this adds a flowing feel to my work and shows a unique selection of movement between my actors.

In many ways this picture can show insecurity and conotations of shyness this isnt a bad thing as it tells my fan base everyone is different in their own way and not all stereotypical to just one area. Along with this it gives the audience a chance to bond with the artists and form a suttle kind of relationship. This wouldnt work if all the shots were bland and a repeat version of the previous.

(Both these two images will be in "Future Shock" however the pages arnt known yet.)

ANNOTATION AND THOUGHTS ABOUT PICTURES FOR MY MAGAZINE

To varify the importance of my magazines genre its is essential the right vibes are giving to the target audience so they know what they are buying. To my left is a representation of a music artist took by myself, presnt with the mise-en-scene of an extreamely bright hoody this helps connote to the audience that the music will be extreamly energetic and unique from other styles and

FAILING TO USE IMAGE:

The main problem when looking closer at the picture is that the strap on the camera is interupting the photo present therefore this picture was my starting point and a lesson to learn from next time setting up my sene with more care and controll.

BACKING AND BODY LANGUAGE

To my right is a snap i took with an arranged setting of my choice, with this i decided on using gritty and casual everyday urban objects which will later help promote my magazine on a local level. It also gives the audience a to chance to relate their lifes in similar ways to up and coming artists such as my friend "lewis raymond jessop".

The body language shown here is suitable in many ways. The fact i have placed him crouched, arms foward gives a unique twist to the feel of my magazine and gives my music artist animal like behaviour.

(This will be shown on the contents of "Future Shock" larger than this original copy)

Producing my first music magazine cover with existing artists here is what the general feel of my magzine will look like.

From the fonts of "28 Days Later" for my masthead and "Impact Bold" i reely like the look of this magazine and will base mine in the same ways only with my own material.

The colours i have used are great for conoting the genre of electro dance/rave as they are vibrant and compliment the clothing of the actual music artists on page. To the bottom i have used achorage from the text to the imagary i like technique as its simple to use but also makes the target audience know who will be in the issue. With the fonts i played around with them untill i was happy in this case with the outline and drop shadow this making them stand out onto the foreground.

The language i used reflects on the genre of music as it is energetic for example snatch, crush, heroes are all words we asocciate with action and movement. As it will be a first issue aswell it was vital to excite and tempt the target audience with prizes and chances to win goods all positive reasons to buy the music magazine. Above the masthead is an important sell line to interact with the audience "THE FUTURE OF MODERN MUSIC AND RAVE" gives the sense that people should go out and get this magazine if they wish to keep up to date with the ever changing music industry.

Appendix 8 Treatment And Production

To summarise my work i am going to construct a front cover, contents and double page spread of a music magazine using stereotypical conventions from existing versions.

The audience profile of my magazine is aimed at young adults and for both genders of male and female. The genre of my magazine falls into several categories this being electro dance and rave therefore being a niche product and have a smaller fan base.

Mise-en-scene will play a vital part when coming to the photography. The clothing will be extremely specific helping the fan base find the magazine on the shelf and for it to stand out. To help this the characters and actors will be dressed in stereotypical florencant colourful clothes, looking slightly over the top. The props they will have will consist of objects found most likely at house parties for example bottles of alcohol, cigarettes and the most common being the instruments in this case a coloured duck taped microphones shaped usually as a carrot, synthesizers which produce computerised electronic sounds and finally a keyboard. The facial expressions present will be slightly chaotic and should denote serious amounts of energy, these aspects all adding to the verisimilitude of the magazine. The locations of many of my shots will be centred in rooms with contrasting light and give connotations of a house party. Common objects to be in the background will consist of sofas, chairs, and tables nothing too dramatic as it will take the atension of the artists in shot. Computer games and consoles also will be present

The layout of my magazine will have all the common elements of a music magazine, this will consist of having the masthead at the top, picture centre page and all the text aligned left for easier understanding (preferred reading). Similar to this i will have my contents stereotypically presented in columns and have page references to each image juxtaposing the two. The larger pictures will be their to sell the magazine, the smaller ones not as important however appropriate to state what my magazine has to offer. The double page spread will have the theme of having all the text lower page with this an image covering the 2 pages will be essiential. One font style which will be repeated throughout the pages i am making is "28 days later" this suits the genre of magazine and looks good with bright rave colours. contrasting to this the background will be black, this will help attract target audiences.
